Deliverability insights
Findings that explain why an email or a domain may miss the inbox, and how to fix them.
Insights are automatic checks on what you send. Each one is marked critical, warning, info or passed, and comes with a fix.
On an email
Open an email in the dashboard to see its insights, or call GET /emails/{id}/insights. The checks are:
- Authentication: the From address is on a verified domain, DKIM is verified, and the return path (SPF alignment) is verified.
- Content: no plain-text version, HTML over 102 KB (Gmail clips it), mostly images.
- Subject: ALL CAPS, too much punctuation, spammy wording, empty.
- Links: more than 20 links, link shorteners such as bit.ly.
- Unsubscribe: marketing mail without a
List-Unsubscribeheader. Broadcasts add it for you. - Tracking: open and click tracking on transactional mail such as password resets.
On a domain
The domain page shows its insights, or call GET /domains/{id}/insights. They add the live DMARC policy (no record, p=none, partial pct, no report address) and the last seven days of bounces and complaints. A bounce share of 2% is a warning and 4% is critical. At 4% hard bounces usend suspends sending, see bounces and suppressions.
Insights are advice, not a guarantee of placement. They never block a send.
Send yourself a test
POST /emails/test sends the given html or text to your own verified address with [Test] in the subject. It needs a dashboard session, and counts as normal usage. Broadcasts have their own Send test button.
